A foot-shaped island floating in the Mediterranean Sea, Sardinia is like a continent in miniature, doubtlessly as much diverse as regions several times its size.
Dazzling white-sand beaches stretching between jagged promontories and towering cliffs, herb-scented granite mountains, a lush countryside and near-alpine woods, mysterious prehistoric sites and pictoresque villages and towns: despite the incomparable beauties of its varied landscapes, an average of 250 sunny days every year, a friendly and welcoming people and delicious food and wines, Sardinia is still surprisingly unspoilt and undiscovered, largely untouched by mass tourism and it represents one of the world's last paradises for photographers who looks for adventure, inspiration and unique images.

Day 1, September 23rd, 2016 - ALGHERO
Arrival at the airport of Alghero and transfer with private car or mini-van to your hotel in the city center.
Italian style welcome with a refreshing aperitivo followed by a Sardinian dinner in a local restaurant.
Sunrise shoot from the seafront medieval bastions of Alghero, with the amazing promontory of Capo Caccia in the background.
Morning: after breakfast at the hotel, we will take a walk in the historical centre of Alghero (approximately 3/4 hours) with its tiny cobbled streets, handicraft workshops, romantic atmospheres and breathtaking sea views from the bastions.
In the early afternoon, after a break with a quick sardinian style lunch, we will move in the outskirts of Alghero to explore the nature reserve of Porto Conte and Capo Caccia, located approximately 40 kms north-west of Alghero. This is an area of breathtaking coastal scenarios, massive steep cliffs, intense mediterranean scents and a rich fauna such as wild sardinian horses and donkeys, wild boars as well as rare birds like griffon vultures. This area has been visited by humans for thousands of years, that’s why you’ll have the chance to explore also the ruins of the nuragic village of Palmavera, built 15 centuries b.C. during bronze age.
This intense day will end with a sunset shoot at Capo Caccia from Cala Inferno, an amazing small bay encircled by huge, rugged white limestone cliffs.
Evening and dinner on your own.
Day 2, September 24th, 2016 - ALGHERO
Right after breakfast at the hotel, we will take the car heading to the amazing town of Bosa.
During the short transfer, by the seaside road south of Alghero we will admire 40 km of coastal wilderness. We will stop along the trip trying to spot some of the marine birds nesting in this area and for photographing the many spectacular geological shapes towering onto the Mediterranean sea. By noon we will arrive to Bosa, a charming town on the shores of Temo river famous for the crazy, vivid colours of the houses surrounding a medieval fortress. A pleasant walk in the old town takes to an antique cellar where to taste Malvasia, the indigenous fortified wine produced in this area.
We will spend most of the afternoon visiting and photographing in Bosa and the surrounding hills, where we will have a chance to spot griffon vultures who live in this area. About two hours before sunset we will move to the amazing stretch of rocky coast known as Torre Argentina, where we will have time for a quick swim just before starting a fantastic photo shoot session where we will photograph the sun setting behind one of the most amazing inventory of rocky sculptures in the world.
Day 3, September 25th, 2016 - BOSA
Day 4, September 26th, 2016 - STINTINO, ASINARA
After photographing the sea from the shore, it’s time today to raise the anchor and enjoy breath-taking Mediterranean scenarios from the water!
Right after breakfast at the hotel, we will take the car in the early morning and drive to Stintino at the north-west corner of Sardinia and board a traditional fishing boat for a day-long sailing around Asinara Island National Park. We’ll stop by charming sandy coves, swim in crystal waters and photograph the wild, pristine and untouched landscapes of this ‘island within the island’ where the only inhabitants are albino donkeys and wild boars, while our friendly host cook a delicious seafood lunch onboard.
Of course we cannot miss one of the most famous spots of Sardinia, so in the late afternoon we will head to the Caribbean-like La Pelosa beach just off Stintino, where we will stop by for our sunset shoot session while on our way back to Alghero.
Day 5, September 27th, 2016 - CASTELSARDO, SANTA TERESA DI GALLURA
We will leave Alghero in the early morning and travel north-east to reach Castelsardo, a well preserved medieval town built around an ancient fortress on a hill by the shore. Our smiley local host takes us tootling around steep and narrow cobble streets to discover cool panoramic spots overlooking the town and the sea, and tiny workshops where artists display their hand-made works.
After visiting this fancy town it’s time to feed our hunger; to do so there’s no better place than a country restaurant where to experience a mouth watering dive into local food culture, made by genuine ingredients skillfully mixed by your smily hosts. Our last activity of the day is a soothing boat excursion along Coghinas river where we will spot and photograph the variety of birds nesting in the area: egrets, herons cormorants and flamingos are only a little part of the species living there. We will wait for sunset in this beautiful natural oasis. The day ends at Santa Teresa di Gallura, the northernmost town of Sardinia.
Day 6, September 28th, 2016 - LA MADDALENA
Get ready to place your camera in front of one of the most spectacular coastal landscape of the world. La Maddalena archipelago spreads with around 60 islands facing Costa Smeralda and invites to experience a fantastic scenery made of multicoloured layers of granite, water, hills and mountains. Of course we’ll explore this coastal heaven by boat, spending the whole day with our local host who knows the area like the back of his hand. Shooting, swimming, sunbathing and enjoying delicious seafood is the intense work waiting for you while wandering in these sapphire and emerald waters.
Day 7, September 29th, 2016 - SANTA TERESA DI GALLURA, PORTO SAN PAOLO
We will wake up early this morning for a sunrise shoot at the promontory of Capo Testa just outside Santa Teresa, a kind of outdoor natural art gallery where red, pink and white granite rocks have been artistically carved and shaped by the forces of nature; the striking early morning light creates awesome effects and bizarre shapes that absolutely need to be viewed and photographed. We will spend most of the morning shooting in this unique, almost unreal place.
In the late morning we head south towards the area of Porto San Paolo; on the way we can’t miss another bizarre nature's masterpiece: the wind-carved Bear Rock. Gallura region is also the land of Vermentino, the indigenous sardinian white wine appreciated all over the world, so we’ll pay a visit to a local wineyard to enjoy some sips of Bacchus’ favourite drink, matched with many bites of sardinian food.
After getting to our accommodation, we’ll dedicate some time to analyze some of your best shots of the week and learn how to get the best out of them with a classroom session of image-processing techniques.
Farewell dinner at the hotel will duly shake your tastebuds with the intense flavours of sardinian food.
Day 8, September 30th, 2016 - PORTO SAN PAOLO
Before saying goodbye and leave Sardinia, another early wake up takes to your last shooting session at the beaches and cliffs surrounding Porto San Paolo, where we will photograph the sun rising from behind the massive rocky shape of Tavolara island. We will then get back to hotel for breakfast, before taking your transfer to Olbia airport.
